Today was a blast. Emma and I did our first major agility event, and it was so much fun. It was the 2006 Show N’ Go, put on by the Southwest Agility Team. It was just a fun event, no judging or scoring, but we got to run 2 different courses, and get a lot of good experience. Emma had a very good time, and so did I. I can’t wait until we start competing for real! Here’s a few pictures, one of Emma getting ready to run, and one of the course that she ran.

In other news, the house is done! I actually started parking my car in the garage yesterday, which was pretty cool. I feel a lot better now knowing that my car is safe from the freak hailstorms that seem to follow me around. And that means that I’ve been able to crank out a lot more knitting now that I’m not spending my evenings cleaning. Not that I wouldn’t do that if I could, since apparently that’s my new favorite past-time, at least that’s what my roomates think.

So I suppose I need to back up my claims of increased knitting with actual results. So here’s the obligatory pictures. I finished my first sock with the Smores yarn, and I also joined the Mason Dixon dishrag craze that seems to be sweeping the knitting blog world by storm. They’re really quite satisfying and quick to crank out.

Well, I better go because Mom (AKA the Knit Nazi…”More Knit for You!”) is pestering me to keep knitting so we have lots of stuff to sell at the artisan fair. Peace Out Knitters.

Hey, I Actually Did Some Knitting! 21 Jun 06

Wow, I got some knitting done last night, I’m amazed! I came home from work, made a quick dinner, and then it was off to Agility with Ms. Emma. And when I got home, I had a ton of stuff that I had planned to do to get the house cleaner and get my stuff more unpacked, but I decided that I didn’t want to do that. So instead, I rented a movie (Firewall…it was ok…but the ending was totally lame) and knitted. It was so wonderful! I’m working on a bunch of little mini socks to send out with my graduation thank you notes (which are very behind schedule), and am hoping to get the last of those finished up soon, so I can send out these notes. They’re quite fun, and I can finish one in about an hour, so they’re nice and quick. Then after that I think I’m going to come up with some fun projects to start making a dent in my ever growing yarn stash. I actually can fill a basket now!

And what’s a blog post without pictures? So here’s some more sketchy cameraphone pictures (I really need a decent camera, now that I’m not at home, I can’t use my parent’s camera) of Dallas, and the huge pond in my backyard.

We’re going for a double header at this very late hour, so here’s so knitting updates that I’ve been meaning to put up.

I just received my Smores yarn from Scout, and I am completely in love with it. I made a small swatch to determine the appropriate gauge for socks, and it looks really great. I can’t wait to start working with it. :)

Also, I’m finishing up my 2nd sock for my pair of ribbed Thuja socks, from Knitty. I really like this pattern and will probably use it to make myself N pairs of nice socks for keeping my feet warm and wearing to work with fancy shoes. And I have a few family members requesting some socks of their own. ;)

Also, my Mom is finished with the bag portion of her Garden Party Bag, and it looks awesome! We felted it the other night, and it’s so fuzzy! It’s going to look super sweet with all the flowers and the cool handles she ordered. I think she may even end up getting orders from the rest of the master gardeners, because they’ll all want one of their own!

And what post is complete without a picture of Emma? Here she is getting ready to walk a course in Agility class this past week. We’re really digging the agility thing: she’s having a blast, and so am I!

ready to hit the teeter-totter

I think that about rounds off the updates for me, and it’s late, so I’m going to hit the hay. Also, the blog’s theme is getting closer everyday to what I have in my head, and I’m pretty much done, save for a bunch of minor stylesheet tweaks. I have yet to test it on Internet Explorer/Windows, so if there’s major problems, leave a comment so I can fix them promptly.

Good Night!

The Sock Crisis is Over! 03 May 06

Woo-hoo! I finally finished a pair of socks! Here they are, fitting snugly on my feet. The one on the left is the first one, done with size 0 DPN needles, and the one on right was done on a size 2 circular using magic loop. Although both fit, you can definitely tell a difference between the stitch gauge from size 0 to size 2. I like the size 0 sock a lot more, it just feels more like a sock to me. So I think I’m going to take my size 2 circ back and get a 0, or two, so I can learn two socks at once!

Now that I have the socks done, I can start on my Topi! School is winding down quickly, so I’m soon going to have a lot more time to knit! I’m already done with 3 out of 5 classes, and just have 2 tests this Friday and that’s it! Then I start work on Monday, I’m so excited!

And tomorrow night, Emma starts in a new special 4 week agility class, where hopefully I’ll learn something about shaping. This agility thing is requiring a lot of coordination, something I’m not known for, but I’m keeping up so far ;)

Sorry, but I just have to say it one more time: One more day of class, and I’m free!
