You know, one of these days I’m going to actually blog more than once a week…but that’s not the case today. I think Maryse hit my mood about blogging right on the head, so I’m going to copy her and oust the transitional sentences. Lists rule.
The order for The Loopy Ewe is done. Phew! I took Labor Day weekend to finish it up, and shipped it out last Monday. Sheri has already received it, and says that it should be up sometime soon, so keep an eye on her store. And in case you wanted to know, this is what 100 skeins of Yarn Nerd yarn looks like.
Holy Sheep Batman, it barely fits on my little table! It was a lot of work, but wasn’t nearly as hard as I anticipated. It’s easy to get into a rhythm and dye up around 15 skeins in an evening and 40 or so on a Saturday. So after a weekend here and a few spare evenings there, it was all dyed. Reskeining is a different beast though. This is about how I felt after reskeining all 100 skeins.
But it was still a blast, and I’m excited to do another order in the future! Oh, and 1500 MHz Sport Merino is now on order, so look for that soon. Since I know a lot of you want it (including me!).
The bike is fantastic. Not only are my hot legs getting even hotter (gotta love the efficiency of clipless pedals), I’m also quite speedy these days. I guess that’s what happens when you shave 10-15 pounds off your commuting machine. Also, my adventure with the ABQ bus system continues, as I’m finding more and more ways to incorporate biking and the bus into my errands and daily routine. If I were in an RPG, my character would have the following stats: Gas Usage = -20, Knitting Time = +50, Pounds Lost = -15 and Smile Factor = +10. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, perhaps you should unsubscribe and save yourself before it’s too late.)
I’m all caught up on the sweater front, and am cruising away on the body. I do need to start a sock though, since this project will soon become to large to squeeze into my bike saddlebags and wield on the bus. I do need a bit of room for a change of clothes and a sack lunch… ;)
Oh, and Mom? I’ll work on your shawl tonight, ok? Promise!
If I seem to be lacking my usual nerdy exuberance today, it’s probably only because I’m all alone in cubicle land, and I haven’t had human contact in around 4 hours. And after 4 hours of computer programming, you kinda start to feel like a computer yourself.
Finally, here’s another little project that I’ve been hiding up my sleeves for a few weeks now. If you are in Scout’s Swag Club, and haven’t received your latest yarn fix, you may want to stop reading, since this will spoil it. Inserting requisite paragraph breaks…
Not yet.
Nope, still no dice.
Are we there yet?
Maybe.
Oops, false alarm.
Keep going…
Almost there.
You’ll get a cookie if you keep going!
Ok, not really, but a fake gold star at least.
Scrolling all the live long day!
. . . .
Oh, now what’s this?
Why it’s lovely yarn! 40 skeins of it in fact, for Scout’s Swag Club for August. Scout asked me if I would like to be a guest dyer for the club a few months back, and I graciously accepted. The colorway is called Chuck T’s, and I think it’s quite smashing. Thanks again Scout, I appreciate the shout out!
Alright that’s it. Move along, nothing left to see. And have a lovely weekend. :)

Yay, and I LOVED it! What a treat to get Yarn Nerd AND a Go Knit in the SAME SHIPMENT! Oh, happy day! (And on the day we got back from vacation, after a six hour redeye with a baby that screamed the whole time, poor thing, and no sleep for 24 hours - I needed something to make me smile!)
All that yarny goodness! I love, love, love the colors of your sweater Adam!
the only thing i see wrong with that order is that there is NO grey poupon colorway in it!! seriously, dud, you MUST add it to your line . . and for incentive, i will design a sock for it. WORD. i’ve been thinking about a caterpillar sock . . .. i have been incredibly backlogged on project designs for the last 2 months, but time should be opening up a bit now, and that yarn is next on my sock list! better get your chef’s apron on; people are gonna want some!
uh, that was supposed to be “dude” i called you there . . .(blush), not “dud”
Ha, a colorway inspired by Chucks. Awesome.
And from that order you sent to the Loopy Ewe…I claim that red one in the corner. Or one of the green ones from the middle. Or…hmm…tough, tough decision.
I can’t wait to get your socks! Awesome colorway Adem!
I teach yarn dyeing class and we have same interist!

Oh, I better go check it out! That pink and yellow yarn is calling to me. First thing I noticed! Great job!
Busy, busy! Do you know how confused I was when P-funk first started talking about clipless pedals? I mean who came up with that terminology? The clipless ones are the ones you clip in to…I mean come on people.
ha! excellent! so regarding your bike and your commute. i used to be able to bike to work. 15 miles round trip. along the charles river. and i loved it. like you, it was the only exercise that i ever stuck with. and i understood that runner’s high thing. you know, how runners get grumpy when they kind run? well i felt like that when i couldn’t bike. and my commute was not much longer than it would have been had i had to wait and take the bus. of course living in boston meant that from november until march, the bike stayed inside except on the weekends because it would just be too dark and usually wet and icy. i don’t ride when it’s wet, snowy or icy.
alas, i now live 35 miles away from my job and biking isn’t much of an option anymore. oh well.
enjoy it for me!
Hmmm … that front-right skein is looking quite Bear-like. Are my eyes deceiving me? All Hail the Loopy Ewe!
level 22 knite?
Thatsa lotta yarn!! Way to go, hope school isn’t interfering with your yarn empire…
Wow! That’s a mountain of yarn. It looks sooo good I almost want to eat it! :)
And congrats on the biking success! Just imagine how hot your legs will look in a year or so. Legs of stone, man!
Chuck T’s! Genius name!
What an exciting week for you! Scout’s Swag club AND shipping your Loopy Ewe order all at once? That’s so cool. You’re my hero Adam!
That’s a whole lota yarn! YUM!
Oh my gosh, I am so in love. I want one of everything. You’re colors are so awesome, Adam! Once again, I need to wait for extra cash and room in the stash box, though. Maybe I should go roll some change…
I see a Loopy Ewe order in my future. Seriously. cause I see purple. mmmmm drools
You are a yarn-dying badass.
WOW - look at all those skeins - congrats!! And I’m glad to hear that your new bike is working out so well.
Super Swag! Glad bike is keeping you happy. Z is growing bolder with his riding. Hit the trails of our local State Park this weekend. Total heaven.
Congrats on your first completed order! That is very exciting. I hope that you are not having to reskein those things by hand…if you are, how are you doing it? Two swifts? I took a dye class with Mama-E and she had a reskeiner made out of PVC pipe. It was pretty cool. I reskeined one of my skeins (post here: http://knitfriendly.blogspot.com/2007/01/power-of-reskeining-is-that-even-real.html) and I had to use my niddy noddy. It took FOREVER! I loved how it turned out in the end though.
btw - don’t you just LOVE your clipless pedals? I just bought some shoes for my spin class and it is 10x better. :)
look at all that yarn! sounds like the biking is really going well!!!
I can’t get myself to read the rest of the post. I am forever stuck looking at the photo of the pretty yarn.
100 skeins of sock yarn… It’s just such a beautiful thing. Great colors!
