Ah, nothing like a good vacation! Especially when it’s filled with lots of relaxation, friends, knitting and tasty coffee. I may not even come back. Anyone know of any engineering jobs up here? ;) (Don’t worry Mom, I’ll come back for Emma and Dallas!)
The wedding was really beautiful, as it was right outside near the shore of the Puget Sound. Nothing like a beautiful lodge, a dynamite view and a nice sea breeze for a great wedding. Oh, and waking up to this nearby view helps too. ;)
The flowers at the wedding lodge didn’t hurt either.
I’m also getting quite my caffeine fill these days too. Nothing like some perfectly extracted espresso and smooth microfoamed milk to start out the morning with. Or an hour after morning. Or an hour before lunch. Or after lunch. Or…ok, I think you get the picture.
Then I met up with Georgia and Sarah for an afternoon yarn crawl. Those gals sure know how to get a guy to buy lots of yarn! They were both super fun, and I’m so glad to finally meet them! Sarah took a picture of Georgia and I, and it wasn’t until later I realized that we never got a picture of her! Sorry Sarah!
We hit up both Hilltop Yarns (the clerk had a blog and was super nice, but I don’t remember her blog name! trash!) and Fiber Gallery (where we saw Jessica who works there!) I’ve never met anyone I’ve only known online before, so 2 people in one day was lots of fun! Thanks so much to both Georgia and Sarah, I had a really awesome time, and got some awesome yarns.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the week, hanging out with my awesome friend Holly and just relaxing. Check out the view from her apartment’s roof!
It’s gonna be awesome. ;)

Sounds like you had a great time, Adam! :)
Hey Adam, Welcome to Seattle. Not sure how much time you have left, but if you get a chance, you might want to check out Weaving Works (www.weavingworks.com) and Acorn Street Yarn (www.acornstreet.com). They are two of my favorite yarn shops in Seattle. And, if you make it out to the University District (the area where these shcps are located), make a stop at Zoka Coffee at 2901 Blakely Street (www.zokacoffee.com) for another great cup of espresso. Hope you continue to enjoy your visit to the Emerald City! Gwen
Oh, and as far as jobs are concerned… There’s this little company called “Boeing” located just outside of Seattle. I think they employ a few engineers. ;)
Perfect name for there! I visited in April, and was caffeinated the whole time LOL! Both those LYS’s named above are really good also..um..er..I visited like 5 when I was there.
Have a great rest of your trip! That lodge picture was really pretty.
Ahh, such fun. It’s so gorgeous up there - and it’s funny how coffee-oriented the whole place is. I don’t drink much coffee at all in my “real life”, but every time I go to Seattle, I become a junkie. (Couldn’t have anything to do with the four espresso stands on every corner. My grandparents’ CHURCH had a full-blown espresso bar right outside the chapel.)
looks beautiful - what a view!
Man I love the Pacific Northwest. Such natural beauty, the people are so friendly, and the non-stop round-the-clock excellent coffee shop every time you turn a corner thing doesn’t hurt either, does it?
Yay! For lots of coffee and lots of yarns!
wow, I miss Seattle! Glad you’re having a great time! :)
[and listen to Gwen! If you have time: Weaving Works and Acorn Street should be visited!]
Mmmmm hmmmmm that coffee looks sooooo good! Sounds like you’re having a blast. If you ever make it to Maine, I’ll crawl ya around the lys’s! Sadly the coffee fare is not as good, but carrabassett coffee (about 2 hours from here-they have a web page) is a great roaster.
And just how many funny looks did you get as you took pictures of your coffee cups? :) Looks like you’re having a blast (I’m not surprised)!
Looks like you are having fun…sure looks beautiful up there. Emma is doing well, she prances around like she owns the place. Cricket gets jealous if I give Emma too much attention, they both think they are the top dog! Anyway, hope you have a blast in Seattle, can’t wait to see your yarn purchases!
Love ya Mom
Don’t just leave us hanging. Flash the newly aquired stash!
That looks like so much fun! I love the picture that you took of the flowers. I am craving some of that coffee!
And I second Peggy on the stash request!
i can’t believe you didn’t post the yarn pictures!! yeah, you should stop by the weaving works if you have time. it’s my favorite store. they also sell trekking…;) oh, and spinning supplies.
i think the clerk at Hilltop’s blog was called “purl of a girl”. i’m going to look her up and check out that wedding dress she knit.
Ooooh, I’m logged in as Adam because I’m using his computer! I feel so powerful!
Just kidding everybody. This is Holly. I wanted to tell Laura that she absolutely hit the nail on the head with the funny looks comment! He got a LOT. In fact, whenever I was there while he took the coffee pictures, I made sure to give him as many funny looks as I could. But I don’t think he cares. ;)
I’m so glad we got to hang out Adam. I agree that you should try to get to Weaving Works and maybe Acorn Street while you’re in town. Don’t forget So Much Yarn downtown or trying to get into Little Knits over in West Seattle (you have to call to make an appt.). Seattle has so many great yarn shops its hard to choose! Glad I could assist in enabling your addictions to yarn and coffee!
Hi there,

Glad you’re having a great time in Seattle Adam! So much yarn, coffee, photo-worthy goodness here! Go easy on the caffeine. We’ll have to meet up the next time you’re here!
glad you’re having fun on vacation. some beautiful photos–especially the flowers and the view. what a nice view!
Next yarn nerd batch: wildflowers and coffee? :-)
Have a great time…
That lodge looked alot like Clearwater over near Bainbridge Island, but then surely you would have mentioned Churchmouse Yarns and Teas. Right? Sounds like you had some java fun and a relaxing time. Having been to and loved your choice of LYS’s, I say “Right On!” Good choices!
LOVE the espresso pictures. Looks like a lovely place and fun time!
