I love Fridays. Especially when you have every other one off during the summer. It’s quite nice to stay home, kick back and put your feet up. In a pile of yarn that is.
The store is all stocked up with some new yarns, including a new colorway called “Love and Peace or Else”, that I absolutely adore. It has black, gray, red, maroon and a bit of white. Everytime I see it, I got into a sudden fit and begin drooling all over the place, because I love it so much. It’s perfect for Project Spectrum, and it’s guaranteed to bring out your inner Bono. Love and Peace or Else is the title of a U2 song in case you were wondering. I know, I’m so hip it hurts. ;) I guess it’s a good thing that I saved a skein for myself huh? I don’t have any red socks, so I figure I should rectify that. (This is how I rationalize things in my head at least.)
There was some roving in the store, but some crazed people with itchy trigger fingers snapped it up in about 2 seconds. You know who you are ;) There’s more of that on the way though. There was something about dyeing that roving that turned on a switch in my fiber-addled brain…I don’t think I’m gonna be able to hold out on the spinning bug much longer. I’m currently shopping for a drop spindle, since a wheel would definitely blast the budget to smithereens right now. I know there are certain ones among you who might try to persuade me with links to inexpensive wheels, so don’t even think about it! I don’t need to be enabled right now, gosh! Idiots!
Now that I’ve packed up all this morning’s orders for shipping, it’s time to mentally psych myself up for tonight’s excitement. That’s right. I’m going to the Harry Potter release party…
Now I realize I might be a bit crazy, (and super nerdy), but I’m really excited for this book to come out. I joined the Harry Potter craze a bit late, i.e. after book 6, so I’ve never had to wait with baited breath for the next installment. Well now I have to wait, and if I have to wait, I might as well get all excited and go to the launch right? At any rate, I’m sure I’ll be staying up very late tonight reading this book…is anyone else joining me?
Whether or not you’ll be staying up late tonight, I hope you have a good weekend! I know I’m going to :) As long as it doesn’t rain during tonight’s Isotopes game, it’ll be absolutely perfect.
Oh, and one last thing.
It’s official. I’m a dork.

grin/wave I GOT ROVING. (she said, a little too loudly.)
Whatever, HP is NOT nerdy. I’m cool like a something-that’s-cool, and I’m going to the book party. I’ll probably even roll my eyes a few times, that’s how cool I am. Puhshaw.
I’m heading out to a HP release party in a few hours, so totally not nerdy.
Have fun tonight! Lovely new colorway there.
Very pretty! (and just about everybody around here looks like that!-the hat and t-shirt anyhow)
Oooh, your yarn is gorgeous. If I hadn’t just dropped some money on some Wollemeise, I’d buy some. I’ll get some after my next pair of finished socks.
You are definitely not the only one excited about HP. I’m probably going to be at a Borders party where there will be no parking available, and I’ll have to wait in line forever, but it’s all right. I’ll take some knitting with me. =)
ok, ok. i won’t post any links to BABES FIBER GARDEN (hehehe) but i will remind you that not only are the wheels inexpensive and super sturdy, but they are put together in a sheltered workshop by adults with disabilities. so when you buy a babe wheel you are helping provide skilled jobs and income to people who really need it :).
but, smarty pants that you are, you could also pick up a book on how to build a spinning wheel. they aren’t that hard to make. i have an almost finished one in my basement.
You’re not a dork! I got my hubby to agree to pick it up for me at midnight! hee!hee!
Fabulous yarn!
Well, I’m re-reading the whole HP set before I start HP7. I’m a few chapters into HP5 right now, so I have a big whack of reading ahead of me before I can start the new one.
So I’m skipping the release parties and if I read lots and lots this weekend, I’ll go over to the local bookstore and pick up my brother and sis-in-law’s copy (with permission … they’re out of town). I’m just gonna carry a bat around with me and whack anyone who tries to spoil the plot of 7 for me before I can read it myself.
30 min. until release in my time zone!!!! :-P
Oh, and the shop update? Bad. Very bad. ;-)
Yeah but you are a cute dork! The yarns are beautiful! I’m buying now!! LOL
Are you done with it yet?
lucky you to have every other friday off! makes for a nice 3 day weekend. hubby has been reading Harry Potter since he got it on Saturday morning…..i’m being nice and waiting until he is done…
I cannot resist the spinning bug anymore either. I’ve been looking at babe wheels too cause they are under $300 and all the bits and pieces that go with it are way cheaper too. I even bought some roving from Funky Carrie and Hello Yarn! I’m gonna take a spinning class soon and figure the $50 I’d spend on a super cool spindle could just as easily go towards a wheel. Resistance is futile Adam. They will convert you just like they got me.
Oh man, G. - you had to go and tell the nerd that he should build one for himself. We won’t hear from him for a month!! And he’ll build some sort of supercomputerwheel that will outspin us all! Something with flawless ratios and scientific formulas developed for perfect treadle-speed-to-twist action.
hey adam, you gorgeous creature, you — I horked your yarn and toes photo to promo you over on the Daily Chum (just opened - http://limenviolet.com/blog). Let me know if that’s not cool with you and I can replace it with something a little more sedate of your choosing, but the toes thing? Freakin’ brilliant. :)
