The incoherent ramblings of a knitting, yarn dyeing grad student, who also happens to be a guy. You got a problem with that?

I wanted to let you know I've knit up my Yarn Nerd yarn into a beautiful Clapotis! There are pictures here: http://knit.liquidgirl.org/?p=208

About the yarn itself... when I was winding it I was worried because of areas where the fiber seemed loosely spun, but I later realized they were mostly pills that could easily be removed so it wasn't a problem. After washing and blocking, my scarf is super soft and has wonderful drape.

ting! (Anne sent me.)
Love the sock with the Guiness. Can't imagine much else that a self-respecting sock would drink.

Hey Adam! I got a message that my yarn has shipped. WHOOHOO!! I like the tour de france sock! I like the colors anyhow, but after seeing the color name, it's interesting to see how the black lines look like skinny bike tires. I heartily approve of your beer choice. Though when we were in college, anytime after noon would've been a good time to start. The iris looks like 'Iris pseudacorus', which around here (New England) is considered invasive. Check it out at the usda plants site if you'd like, http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=IRPS. Looks like you have it confined to a small pond in your yard. It doesn't look like it has high potential to become invasive in your situation (as opposed to some of the stuff around here that is spread by birds eating the fruits).

I got my yarn nerd yarn on Friday. Yay! I love the choice of pattern for sock, but must say, not its choice of beer...I'm so NOT a Guinness fan. I can't wait to figure out what I'm going to do with this new yarn, though... Enjoy your irises! Things are just starting to bloom here, and about time!

ok, now my cakes of "tour de france" are tempting me more than ever. that sock is seriously beautiful!! bummer about the knots...i've had some louet yarn with knots in it too. knots don't bother me. i know it's just the way it is. most commercial yarn i've used has a knot or two in it. i try to limit them in the stuff i send out and i know you do too :) congrats on a great shop update!!

I imagine it's very gratifying to see your creations knit up. My friend Jane is working on a sock design using your Printed Circuit Board colorway. Hopefully she'll have pics of that soon for you!
