That’s what Dallas was thinking the other day as I was reskeining some yarn! I turned my back for a second and looked over to see him chewing on a freshly wound skein of Raspberry Sherbet. He didn’t eat any of it luckily, but he did manage to completely destroy any hope that poor skein had of ever being knit up into anything. He’s pretty thorough with those teeth!
Oh well, what can you do eh? He did get a scolding for playing with something he wasn’t supposed to, but I can’t really fault the poor guy, he’s completely out of toys! I need to go to the discount store and buy some more dog toys, since he destroys them as fast as I can buy them! He certainly keeps me on my toes that’s for sure :) And I wasn’t too mad, since it was one of my mini skeins (more info on those to come with the upcoming shop update), so at least it wasn’t a 450 yard skein that was ruined.
And I thought only cats liked yarn!
Things are still chugging along here…the shop update is getting closer to being ready, but school also continues to loom over my head like an anvil. It’s like I told a friend today…I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but there’s still a bunch of roadblocks and potholes on the road before I get to the light!
I spent most of this evening trying to figure out how to find the bit error rate for a multi-carrier communications system using repetition codes and majority decoding for BPSK modulated subchannels under flat Rayleigh fading. Any one know the answer to that one? I think I got a solution, but I’m still not entirely sure…which is usually how the homework for this class goes.
Speaking of evening, it seems to have slipped away into night time, and I’m getting tired so I think I’ll hit the hay. I was a bit worried 15 minutes ago, because the water randomly shut off, but it seems to be back on now so I hope it sticks around until the morning. Just another small test to see how close my sanity is to the breaking point I suppose.
Here’s hoping a little sleep will bring me back from that breaking point…just ever so slightly. ;)

Sorry for the yarn… have you tried one of these for your dog??? http://www.playthingspast.com/in-44321.html It is the Wiggly Giggly ball. I saw it once on Oprah (4-5 years ago) and got one for my brother’s ex-girlfriend’s Destroyer Dog (i.e. a super energetic Jack Russell Terrier). Arto absolutely loved this toy and was gentle with it. When it rolls it sounds as if there’s a baby giggling and so he thought he had to be nice to the baby :) For Arto playtime with this ball was the best treat ever :)
Cheers Eva PS: this ball exists in different sizes for cats and dogs…
Ouch! Well, at least we know Dallas has good taste. :-)
Your homework makes my head spin. I think I’ll stick to American and Asian history for now, thank you!
I’d almost forgotten we’re closing in on the end of the semester! Not really- my roommate’s going nuts trying to finish everything up, and I get to watch and laugh because I’m done with school.
I’m glad Dallas only got a mini-skein, and I’ve got to admit, I’m intrigued!
Hey dude,
Don’t go off the deep end…your on the homestretch now! I obviously can’t help you with the homework but you can come over and I’ll cook you up a great dinner! Nothing like a good meal to help you make it through. That Dallas is always getting himself into trouble. Just be glad Cricket isn’t your dog, because the 2 of them together could bring a whole house down! I’m praying for ya
I have no idea what the question is even. Yikes!
But! I do have a great dog toy pattern for you: http://www.knitlist.com/98gift/dogstugtoy.htm
I made one using doubled worsted weight Brunswick (like Cascade 220), then folding it and whipstitching the length of it and knotting the ends before felting it. I gave the resulting toy to some friends whose dog destroyed every other toy ever and he couldn’t destroy the super tug! He carried it around all the time. Worth a shot - a nice mindless knit. :)
oh no! i haven’t had that happen yet, but the other day i caught bowie running around the house with a skein of peaches & cream cotton in his mouth. he was very proud of himself, especially when i chased after him to rescue it.
so after the next couple weeks of school are you done for a while? do you get a summer break in grad school? i hope so, cause you deserve one. :)
I think the answer is Vodka.
Right. What was the question again?
I’m way intrigued on the yarn…can’t wait to see the update! Hope Dallas can keep his paws…or his teeth…off!
My dogs like yarn too (see Feb 16). Maybe that can be salvaged for tassels (but why?) or doll hair (again, why?…for me anyhow). My dogs have gotten big enough that they destroy stuffed toys, but a couple of sturdy squishy rubber things are still around. Kong toy too, but that doesn’t get much action. I am so amused that I have no idea what you are talking about with your homework! But I can tell you miniscule details that will separate different moss species (well, some of them).
