Back to Normal (Is That Possible?) 03 Apr 07

Yup, things are returning to the grind for me; no more sickness (there’s still plenty of phlegm!), homework is accumulating and work marches onward. It seems that the month of March was one of the most hectic I’ve had in a while, and I can’t really identify why. The wedding was certainly a huge part of that, plus I had midterms and lots of other things going on. And you know what I realized on the last day of March? That I hadn’t found time to dye yarn in an entire month! A month people! Well I remedied that by pulling out the stock solutions and dyeing up a custom order for my friend JP.

woo-hoo, I had some time to dye!

I think the dyeing, coupled with lots of knitting, was the perfect weekend prescription to feel better. Not to mention catching up on the last 6 BSG episodes. (OH MY GOSH! The season finale was so phenomenal! Have you seen it yet Monica?) By Sunday I was feeling perky, because it was the grand opening of the new Sagebrush Community Church building. My Dad serves as the Administrative Pastor there, and it was so exciting to see a church that has been meeting in a middle school for the last 7 years finally have their own building to meet in. Then I rounded off the weekend by hanging out with my brother at his apartment and relaxing in the hot tub. A very nice weekend if I say so myself.

And look, I’m almost done with my Jaywalkers! Dallas can be seen here trying to eat them, since he has a total sock fetish. I’m always finding him in the hamper pulling out my socks and chewing holes in them. Needless to say, the handknit socks are always kept out of his reach!

kronsche
kronsche!!!
almost there!
please excuse the hairy legs.

Gauge issues aside, I’ve really enjoyed knitting these socks, and I think the Jaywalker pattern complements hand-dyed yarn very nicely. They’re the loosest pair I’ve ever made, but it makes them great socks for lounging around the house in. Warm, comfy and stylish, what more could you want? ;) Plus, with my 1500 MHz Sport Merino, they’re super fast to knit (when you’re not frogging them all the time!), and are very sturdy.

Oh crap, I have class now! Peace in the streets!

It really was a great season finale (even though I am still confused about a few things)!

Do we get to see a finished pic of the dyed yarn?

I looked at the church’s website to see where it was located…man things in ABQ have changed so much since I lived there. Scout now lives in what was once the mesa where we had parties in high school…crazy!

Glad that you’re feeling better! I’m very curious about your sink full of yarn…do we get to see it all skeined up in it’s colorful glory?

The Jaywalkers look great! And it’s really amazing to see a church grow like that, isn’t it? Anyway, I’m glad you’re feeling better, and that you dyed more yarn- I was wondering when you’d have a shop update.

glad you’re feeling better. i have been hearing a lot about this BSG for awhile now. tell me - if one is an avid fan of Buffy/Angel/Firefly, would one then be a fan of BSG?

I’ve been meaning to make those socks but I’m afraid I won’t be able to concentrate! Glad to see that you’re better. We’re all sick over here and have been for a couple months. This season has been tough.

I loved the pic on the last post of your brother and your mom and you.

Someone actually cornered me at the guild meeting the other night begging me to get in touch with you and ask when you’d be updating your shop again. The ladies of Charlotte love your yarn!
