Happy Pi Day Everyone!

Pi

That’s right, I said Π day. See, it’s March 14, and this post was published at 1:59 PM, and the first 6 digits of the number Π are 3.14159. (If you do not know what Π is, then I suggest you run before I club you with a bat. Or at least go read the Wikipedia article to educate yourself.)

I know it’s nerdy, but I just have to pay homage to the wonderful number that I use every single day. Π, without you, the universe would explode, so we’re very grateful you’re around.

I like how this guy in the piday.org forums puts it:

I love Pi because I believe God put it there to give us a tiny, tiny glimpse of infinity. The circle also illustrates this. How else can we begin to start to imagine His ineffable character? And He’s so much more beyond this….

Also, did you know it’s Albert Einstein’s birthday today? Coincidence? I think not!

Wow! Despite the physics minor, I had never put “Pi Day” together before now, and here I am reading two blog posts on the same topic in the same hour. (other one is here

Burned my tongue on lunch. Too bad I don’t have a piece of ice cream pi to cool it off! :)

Was Einstein born at 1:59? ;)

I’m dying laughing. And I thought I had left physics and geometry behind in HS/college. Sheesh. Never knew there was such a thing as pi day. Nor did I know it was Einstein’s birthday, and I live down the road from his old house (or one of them). (PS: the pun that pi is “around” is a bit too much, don’t you think? :) )

Happy Pi Day my dear cousin. This is one of my favorite days of the year. I love the fact your mother has no idea what Pi is.

Happy Pi day to you as well. I was not quite coordinated enough to make my blog post at 1:59, besides I wasn’t up then, and 13:59 shouldn’t count. :)

I think you should cast on for a Pi shawl in celebration of your adorable nerdiness!

Oh, and next time I hold a contest of cute, I espect to see some Adam pups! K?

Happy Pi Day! I had never heard of it, but I get it, totally. Anatomy (human) and so many things in nature are what sparked my belief in God, including pi. I just couldn’t believe that some things so perfectly and beautifully constructed were pure chance (nautilus shells, for example). A good excuse to have pie for dessert tonight- my husband will be thrilled!

Very Good! Happy pi day to you too…it’s new to me, but I LIKE it! My son (who is 11) will love it. We’re more the bio geeks around here, but the kid is all over math! He was asking me about something earlier in the week, and I told him that idea is very old and famous and is called “Xeno’s paradox”…he was pretty pleased. Then he got all practical and discussed how the theory is interesting, but in reality you would get to your destination because you can’t take infinitessimally (I can’t spell that) small steps.

A belated Happy Pi Day! My daughter’s math class had pie (apple) to celebrate the day.

All I’ve read so far was a Pi post…I’m bookmarking you. This is such a cool post, and I haven’t even looked at your Project Spectrum knitting.
