Well at least that’s what it feels like here in ABQ. It’s been practically a paradise for the past few days, with highs in the 60s and plenty of blue skies and sunshine. But you know what’s ironic? It’s been perfect weather for me to rack up some miles outside for Runagogo, but I’ve been inside in bed for the past few days. I don’t know how I got it, but some form of virus has decided to make my body its home since Monday, which hasn’t been too pleasant. I had a fever of 103° for 2 days, plus lots of aches, pains, chills and general unpleasantry. Fortunately, I think the tide is turning, and although I’m not feeling 100% better, I am starting to feel a bit more like myself today. Here’s hoping that I can actually get out and enjoy the weather this weekend.
And oh yeah, it’s Friday, so here’s some eye candy! The long promised pictures of the Garden Shawl! I know it’s still only February, but picking up this thing just makes me long for the blooming of all the trees and the chirping of the birds. How can it not when you’re knitting flowers and dew drops and ferns right into it?
I’m not really sure why I picked this pattern as my first ever lace project (i.e., it’s crazy complicated), but when I saw the pattern I just knew that my Mom would love it, being the gardener that she is. She’s practically ecstatic over the warm weather and is already planning out her gardening layout for her new house. Anyway, even though it’s been a challenging project, I’m really enjoying it and have learned a ton about lace knitting so far. I think a big advantage is that I’ll be able to pick up a pattern for a less intricate shawl and work it without too many problems. Nothing like a trial by fire, eh?
So see Mom? Contrary to what you may think, or say in your comments, there is in fact progress being made on your shawl. ;)
In other news, I absolutely promise that the store opening will be this upcoming Monday, the 12th. If everything isn’t perfect by then, well, I don’t care anymore because I can’t sit on it for much longer! It’s killing me! So you can have your yarn fix soon, just take a deep breath and try to wait just a few more days. Here’s another little teaser for you, not to mention some nice Eye Candy Friday.
These are two new colorways that I dyed up using a new process (it produces such nice color gradients!), to coincide with this month’s Project Spectrum colors, blues and grays. You can have at ‘em on Monday, but until then, have a fantastic weekend!

We have crocuses popping up here that are the colour of that shawl!
Sorry to hear you’ve been sick, but glad to hear you’re feeling better! That shawl is gorgeous.
So glad you are finally feeling better…I was worried about you! The shawl looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to wear it. I’m sure I will wear it during the spring and summer, as you know how cold I get when the air conditioners are on during the summer!!!
Ohhhh those are pretty Adam! And the shawl is gorgeous!
Did you get a light box or something? Those pictures are fabulous!
That is a gorgeous shawl, lace is really the only reason I want to learn to knit! So I guess I am going to spend my whole weekend praying that Monday will come a little faster, eh?
Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Lovely, as always. Hope you feel %100 better soon!
What a gorgeous shawl! I’m sure your mom will love it.
You are such a tease, what with the yarn pictures and the promises of fibery goodness for sale.

Nice informative post! I like seeing the progress on your Mom’s shawl. It looks fabulous! Nice photos too.
I will look for your new shop on Monday. I like your new colours, especially the “Stormy Teal”. It looks interesting yet wearable for a man, and that’s sometimes hard to find.
