Jeez, I can finally breathe! Last week was one crazy week! I had a test (and a particularly nasty one at that…I’m not especially looking forward to the results…), lots of homework, plenty of housework and generally not enough time. But enough talk about all that boring stuff, here’s what you really came here to see. Socks!
Pattern: Wendy’s Toe Up Socks
Yarn: Lion Brand Magic Stripes in #201 Denim Stripes
Needles/Method: Magic Loop on Addi Turbos in US #1
Details: I used Knitty’s Magic Cast On and knit stockinette stitch until turning the heel with the YO Short Row Heel method. Then I did some stockinette for the leg and switched to k2, p2 rib for the cuff. I cast off with EZ’s Sewn Bind Off. They came out great, and I highly recommend all the techniques I used, they’re great.
Completion Time: 2 Weeks
I really enjoyed this pair of socks, especially since the yarn was only $5. They were a bit stiff when I first finished them, but a nice soak softened them up a lot. I also really like that the yarn is a sport weight rather than fingering weight, because it gives the socks some more strength and makes them nice and warm. Definitely one of my favorite knits as of recently.
(And in case you were wondering, Emma was absent from this photoshoot as she was sleeping under the covers of the bed. She’s practically the laziest dog evar!)
That’s it for now, but there’s a post about my crazy weekend involving spinning, baking, dog sitting, real estate selling and snake proofing coming soon!

aww! my two favorite things. socks and dogs. they look great! does it really get cold enough in NM to wear wool socks?
Again, as I said on flickr - the socks look great and I really appreciate the link to the YO short row heel. It’s on my “to learn” list. Though I’ve pretty much gotten the wrap and turn heel down without holes, one can never have too many tricks up their sleeves!
And snake proofing! Oooh, can’t wait!
