Just a quick post today…

This weekend was filled with lots of dyeing at my parent’s house, and some of the yarn that resulted is pretty cool. The plan is to see if we can sell it at the craft fair, but if it doesn’t sell I won’t be too broken up to keep it! Pictures coming sometime soon…but for a teaser the colorways dyed so far are called Tie-Dye, New Mexico Sunset and Easter Eggs. I’m working up one more colorway which I’m pretty excited about too, that one should get dyed sometime this week.

The craft fair looms close, and the knitting kicks into overdrive as I whip out hats, scarves and whatever else I can manage to fit in! And you know what happens after the craft fair??? The Village Wools moving sale! 15% off everything in the store! My wallet is running away as I type…

That’s about it, I just wanted to put out a teaser about the cool yarn pictures coming soon…

P.S. You may have noticed the little chat thing in the top of the sidebar, and wondered “what the heck???”. If it says “webguru4god is online”, that means I’m available to chat, in real time! Just type in the box and talk to me, it’s pretty sweet! So give it a try :) And if you want to change the nickname from “meeboguestxxxxxx” to something more personal, just click the nickname at the bottom. What do you think? Is this weird, creepy or cool?

In my never ending quest to turn myself into a human gadget I impulse bought the new Nike + iPod Sport Kit yesterday. Since I’m no longer in the black vortex of no time known as New Mexico Tech I actually have had time to start running in an attempt to get in better shape. (Not to mention combat my obscenely high blood pressure and high hereditary risk of having a heart attack at an early age…) Well I needed a new pair of running shoes, so I got these special ones that have a hole under the footpad in which you insert the iPod kit sensor. This sensor wirelessly interfaces with your iPod while you run, collecting data on your distance, speed and caloric burn, all while providing you motivational landmarks (such as “10 minutes to go”) over your tunes. Then when you’re all done with your workout, you can upload your data to the Nike website where you can track your progress over time, and set personal goals. Darn you Apple, for coming up with a way for me to look forward to running while spending money at the same time. You’re a cruel mistress.

Of course this means that as the weather gets colder I’ll have to knit myself up some sweet items such as mittens and beanies to keep me warm. And stylish.

In a somewhat related note, this has to be the coolest handknit sweater I have ever seen. Mad props.

<Begin Mac-vangelist Speech>

So if you’re a Mac nerd like me, yesterday was a big day. This week is the annual WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), which is the yearly mecca for all Mac software developers, and others who just pay out the nose to hear our benevolent leader Steve Jobs speak about the new products and software. I don’t even want to consider the illegal things I’d be willing to do just to get a chance to go to WWDC or Macworld…(Think happy thoughts)…that’s how Mac-crazy I am. Don’t ever say good things about Windows in my presence, cause you’ll get an earful.

Anyway, yesterday was his Steveness’ keynote address, and there were some exciting things let me tell ya. He previewed the new version of Mac OS X, (you know what that means Stephanie? Another update in the Spring, I bet you can’t wait!), and there’s some pretty cool stuff. I won’t bore you all with the details, but you can go check out Leopard’s features if you want for yourself. And if you ever want to consider switching to a Mac, I’m always here for you :) And you know what? Macs run Windows now, so you can have the best of both worlds!

<End Mac-vangelist Speech> (We now return you to your regularily scheduled knitting post)

In the knitting world I continue to chug along in anticipation of the upcoming art fair. We only have 2 weeks left, and Mom and I are both knitting as fast as time allows. I finished another cabled purse, in green, that is waiting to be lined. And I’m working on a Tea Cozy from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I think we’re going to dye some yarn this weekend which should be fun too. I’m not going to promise pictures, because I never deliver…one of these days I’ll get a digital camera.

Last night’s dinner (and today’s lunch) was pretty darn good, as evidenced by my little brother wolfing it down very quickly.

  • Spicy Mahi-Mahi with Creamy Avocado Sauce
  • Snap Peas with Mint
  • Asian Cucumber Salad
  • Apple Strudel (frozen from Trader Joes, but still very good)

That’s about all I have to report…I’ll leave you with a very cool picture of a rainbow I took from my car the other day. While at a stoplight in case you were wondering. Peace out.

In a very happy note, I’m glad to report that ACG (Annoying Cubicle Guy, Who Never Shuts Up) has completed his internship and just departed from our office, not to be heard from again. I thought he’d never leave! In honor of finally getting some peace and quiet in this barren land of partitions, I’ve made a list of some of the more memorable quotes uttered by ACG.

The other cast of characters include CBG (Cute Blond Girl, who is oblivious to the fact that annoying cubicle guy totally has the hots for her and constantly hits on her) and GMU (Grunting Mac User, who I think only comes in the office for like 2 hours a day, and mostly utters grunts and non-coherent noises).

  • Annoying Cubicle Guy: “Ambulance is a weird word. It sounds like a prescription drug, not a car.”

    Grunting Mac User: “Unggg.”

  • Cute Blond Girl: “Oh look, my computer has a blue screen with white words on it, what does that mean?”

Annoying Cubicle Guy: “Oh I’ve heard about that, and I think it’s a very serious problem, you may need a new computer. Better call Computer Support.”

    (5 minutes later)

Computer Support on Speakerphone: “Ummm, Windows does that all the time. Just reboot it. Bye.”

  • Annoying Cubicle Guy: “Well I guess this is goodbye. Good luck with school and all that.”

    Cute Blond Girl: “Tee-hee-hee!”

Annoying Cubicle Guy: “When you think of me, just throw stuff at the mountains, since that’s in the general direction of Georgia Tech.”

    Cute Blond Girl: “Sure!”

In knitting news, I’m going up to the mountains tonight to help Mom assemble the large collection of Noni Bags that she has amassed. Pictures forthcoming.
