Seen in an e-mail today:
You are invited to attend an Asian Leadership & Outreach Committee sponsored Summer Student Luncheon
…
Caterer: Panda Express
I almost spewed coffee everywhere when I read that one. That’s like having a Mexican Student Luncheon and serving Taco Bell. Hmmm, I wonder what the Chinese and Japanese equivalents of “gringo” are?
Anyway, funny work e-mails aside, and onto…well not much really. I had a nice weekend, getting in some knitting, amongst all the other house chores. I finally decided to do something about the gigantic bermuda tumor grass growing in my front and back yard. So I commissioned (cough, paid off) my little brother to help me lug my parent’s 4×4 offroading mower (seriously, this thing is like a tank with blades) into the car and down to my house to mow the tumor, I mean grass. Well the grass was still wet from all the rain, and man did that make things difficult. The mower stalled around every 5 seconds (this grass was freaking tall), and we emptied the bag around 15,000 times, but finally it was done and the grass was mowed. Who knew it was possible to have so much “fun” on a Sunday afternoon?
Also, Dallas is now a eunuch, in case you wanted to know. He got snipped on Friday, and is doing very well. It’s always sad to take your dog to have their manhood removed, but it’s for the best, as I don’t want him running around town becoming a deadbeat dad.
Finally, I finished a second cherry/silver 80s beanie, and have started a second baby hat. I’m hoping to grow some extra arms so that I can become a one man knitting machine for this craft fair, but that hasn’t worked out too well yet. Maybe I can teach the dogs to knit…then I’d really be cooking.
