If you haven’t read the previous post on setting up fencing around the pond, go do that.
Friday Night @ 10pm Having just finished constructing a fence around the pond to keep the dogs out, Mom and Dad and I were in the backyard with the dogs. I looked over and Emma was attacking a bug, and Mom realized that there were some ants over where Emma was at. Well she had an ant in her mouth, and she got bit. We didn’t think too much of it, I figured she’d just have a little sting in her mouth and that would be the end of it.
After a few minutes she went inside and laid down, going completely limp. We looked in her mouth to try to find the bite, and her gums were completely white, like chalk. Then she sat up and started puking. Well I got really worried, and I rushed her to the emergency vet. On the way, she was completely flaccid, and I was afraid that she wouldn’t make it. Her breathing got really labored, and she wouldn’t even lift up her head. When I finally got there, they rushed her to the back and gave her IV steroids and anti-histamines.
I was pretty freaked out, and the Vet came out after a bit to say that she was doing ok, but that it was a pretty severe allergic reaction she had, and she might have not made it if I hadn’t come so fast. He said it was pretty uncommon to see such a violent reaction. So they kept her there for a few hours, and gave her fluids and monitored her. Then finally at 1 AM they deemed her ready to go, and let us leave.
I was so incredibly thankful that she survived, and thank God for not taking her from me, because I don’t think I could have dealt with it. Losing my dog Grace last summer when she was attacked by coyotes was heartbreaking, and I couldn’t bear to lose Emma. But she’s doing much better, and I’m so happy. :-D
So that was my wild and crazy night…not exactly fun. Also, I wanted to send my condolences out to Scout, who had to give her dog up this morning because he bit her daughter. I’m very sorry for the loss.
Well, I think it’s time to dwell on happy things, so look for a post soon about Dye-O-Rama, and the yarn I’ll be sending out to my pal shortly! And some pictures of the awesome yarn that my dyeing pal sent me!

Aww. Thanks Adam. I’m so glad that She’s okay. Ugh. Not a fun day for EITHER of us!
I’m glad that Emma’s doing better. What an awful day…
poor emma! i’m glad she’s okay.
jack still has a big hole in his chest, and he looks ridiculous in his t-shirt and big white collar. the other dogs laugh at him. :(
I’m glad to hear Emma will be fine. What a scare!
Looking forward to seeing the dyeing results. :)
