So I’ve been a slacker and I was looking through my e-mails and realized that I hadn’t posted the Dye-O-Rama Meme yet! Oops! I suppose in all the confusion I completely forgot that I get to start teaching myself some yarn dyeing skills soon, so I can send someone some sweet hand-dyed yarn. I think I’m going to use my day off this Friday to spend some time at Village Wools stocking up on the necessary tools and mess making equipment.

Anyway, the meme’s kinda long, so continue on if you dare…Muhahaha!

And once again, I present a compusively ordered list, straight from the mind of an engineer.

Specific Swap Questions

1. Your Favorite Colors?
   I really like dark and muted colors, like grays, blacks and whites, with a splash of color in them. So something that’s monochromatic (in gray, black and white colors) with a little green or red running through, that really gets me. Nothing very flashy, I don’t like a lot of colors that are different put together. I usually tend to go for colors from the same family with a highlight or two. A good example is the sock yarn I’ve been using lately, or the Smores yarn I just bought from Scout.
2. Preferred Yarn Weight?
   I’m totally into socks now, and like fingering and sport weights. I think I would prefer sport weight best for Dye-O-Rama, because it’s versatile for a lot of different things.
3. Solid or Multicolored Yarn?
   Definitely multicolored.
4. Variegated, Self-Patterning or Self-Striping?
   I really have no preference. Random color is cool, but I really like stripes and patterning yarns too. So do whatever you’re most comfortable with.
5. Wool Blend Sock Yarn?
   Sure! As long as it’s still washable and soft, then I’m up for any blend.
6. Perfect Colorway. What would you name it?
   I’m imagining a colorway called Caffe Crema. It looks a lot like this Espresso Macchiato. Mmmmm. Coffee for your feet. Anyway, that’s not subliminal messaging for what I really want, just one of the color combos I really like. :)
7. Why did you join Dye-O-Rama?
   Because I thought it’d be awesome to learn to dye yarn, and send something creative to a fellow knitter!

General Yarn Questions

1. Have you dyed yarn before
   Nope.
2. Do you spin?
   Nope, but want to learn someday.
3. Have you knit socks before?
   Yes, after quite a few tries I finally figured out to make a well fitting sock. Check the blog archives for more on the sock exploits (there’s a lot of them).
4. Do you use sock yarn for other things than socks?
   I don’t imagine why I wouldn’t, but I’ve just never done it before.
5. What are some of your favorite yarns?
   I’m in love with Koigu, Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock! and Manos del Uruguay.
6. What yarn do you totally covet?
   You will soon be mine sweet Koigu, all mine!
7. Favorite Patterns?
   I love Jess Hutch’s Knitted Robots, and any guy type sock patterns I can get my hands on. And most of the stuff on Knitty is pretty awesome, I still want to knit Topi, Nautie, Exchequered and many more.
8. What pattern if money and time weren’t a factor?
   I really want to make the Cambridge Sweater in the new Interweave Knits magazine, and am considering it as a new summer project. (so it’ll be done in the fall).
9. Favorite Needles?
   I really like Addi Turbos, having become a recent convert. But I love bamboo and aluminum DPNs too. I also like Bryspun ceramic circulars.
10. What kind of yarn are you?
    Sorry, I’m terrible at self-introspection and am incapable of answering this question.

1. Favorite Snacks?
   Hmm, that’s tough, but I pretty much love anything chocolate. Especially very dark chocolate. Mmmmm. (as far as stuff that doesn’t melt, I love most candy, including stuff with that sour sugar coating, I can’t get enough of it).
2. Favorite Animal?
   Miniature Schnauzer of course!
3. Pets?
   A 1-year old Mini Schnauzer named Emma. Although I am considering adding to the family :)
4. What color am I?
   See above question about yarn.
