The incoherent ramblings of a knitting, yarn dyeing grad student, who also happens to be a guy. You got a problem with that?

Hey Adam, I just discovered your blog!

That is a funny story. We all know that stereotypes come from somewhere, but every so often, you get floored by reality that transcends stereotypes, huh? Did you ever know J.W. Pope? He used to scare me in the same way--blak clothes, scary music, etc. I worked with him at KTEK, though, and found him to be one of the most interesting, and funny people I'd met in a long time!

Ah...Techies....

hey, i know that guy! he was friends with jessica when i was roommates with her.

so he walks in, and i thought the same thing that you probably did, except more like "wow, my sweet little jessica is friends with this combat-boot monster?"

and then he pulled out his crochet and he and the several girls there started talking about SHOES, adam. about how the super-pointy shoes are ugly. i was floored. i forgot his name, but he's one of the most polite people i've ever met. he's very nice.

so i learned that lesson last year. i wonder if he exists to teach people that lesson.

Scout beat me to it. Invite him to come up with you and knit or crochet at our group(s) sometime.

Man, you crack me up.
I grew up on Goad Ave. in the split level house that's on the hillside to the south of the married student housing in the arroyo. As a matter of fact, my TB and I had a raft that we paddled up and down the arroyo where the married students housing is now. (If you find any caches of army men, they're my brother's.)

When my dad taught at tech, the nerdy guys wore plaid shirts, chinos & penny loafers. The geologist guy raised weimaraners. My other geologist friends, the Bejnars took us rock hunting a lot.

Great place to be a kid - Socorro. Swimming in the tech pool, picking asparagus from the rough and Russian olive groves around the golf course, chasing the peacocks, the ducks chasing us....

I'm looking forward to meeting you. Happy knitting.
Jeannie
