my ambitious dog project 19 Jan 06

so my latest knitting endeavour is to make a blanket for my lovely schnauzer Emma, from a pattern I found at a local craft store. it’s composed of 3 strips that are sewn together and then edged. so here’s the first strip, complete with some complex intarsia work that took me forever to figure out. you can’t see the top, but there’s another square of the white yarn in the basketweave pattern like the gray. when it’s all done the blanket will be pretty cool, so I’m really excited to finish it.

my second scarf in ribbed goodness 17 Jan 06

so here’s my 2nd project, which turned out beautifully I think. I went to the LYS (local yarn store for my non knitting friends) and bought some wool on clearance to make a scarf with.

I got home and decided to try doing a multi striped approach with a 2×2 rib, and boy did it come out nice! half-way through I thought it’d be fun to switch the colors, and when I wear it the effect is really cool.

all in all, I’m very happy with this scarf and I wear it everywhere, proudly telling people that I knit it myself, and watching the looks of surprise that ensue.

next up, pictures of the ambitious new project that I’ve embarked upon for my lovely schnauzer Emma (and no it’s not clothing -P )

my first project ever! 16 Jan 06

so here’s the first project I ever did, the humble acrylic garter stitch scarf that my Mom helped me through. after I finished that scarf I was pretty much hooked. it’s got quite a few imperfections, but for my first project I was pretty happy )

next up, my ribbed scarf with color work that I absolutely love!

wristbands galore 16 Jan 06

so here’s some shots of my quest to make the perfect knitted wristband…it took a few tries, but I finally got it right (the Apple logo one fits perfectly!) i also finally got the hang of intarsia knitting which made the fit better because the middle didn’t pull like it does when I tried fair isle technique for the colors.

some of my future logo plans include some kind of electrical circuit and some nintendo characters like mario. do you have any good nerdy designs that you’d like to share?

so hey there, my name is adam and this is my blog. it’s a continuation of my previous blog, which I decided to discontinue because I like wordpress.com better than my own private hosting service. so I’ll be discussing my life as an about to be retired student (only one more semester for my BSEE, yeah!), new knitter and schnauzer lover. I hope you’re not bored to death, and that you can find some interesting things on my blog, whether it be knitting tips or whatever. so without further ado, I will present to you all the knitting projects I have finished and the very ambitious one I have recently embarked on!
